Marriage Design

To get married, a couple must:

  • Have an existing two-way friendship
  • Find a judge to perform the ceremony
  • Be single!
Ceremony

Podium interaction will have new interactions:
  • "Perform wedding" is available to judge Sims only.
  • Once there is a judge at the podium, a Sim can click the podium and choose "Get Married."
When all the appropriate slots are filled, the wedding ceremony begins.
  • The couple pulls lighted candles from behind their back and joins them into a larger flame.
  • The officiant utters profound words, and music plays
Being Married
  • A married couple's link in the friendship web has the normal two-way arrow, but there is a double-ring icon over it.
  • There is a special social interaction only available to married couples.
Judges
  • Judge is a special role in the game that requires a combination of high skill in both logic and charisma.
  • While the justice may ask for money to perform the ceremony, there is no game-enforced fee involved.
Divorce
  • Either of the Sims in the marriage can initiate a divorce.
  • Divorce is a special social interaction available to a judge when clicking on a married person.
  • The married person gets a confirmation dialog.
  • If they say yes, the justice pulls their candle out from behind his/her back, and the married person snuffs it out.
  • The marriage is dissolved automatically. The other person gets a Maxis letter informing them.
  • The friendship still exists; it is up to the couple whether they'd like to break it manually in the friendship web.
