Starting a Fire

A fire can only be caused by roommates. A fire can start any of the following ways:
  • If someone with low cooking skill is cooking at a stove or BBQ, there is some chance of a fire starting.
  • If a burnable object is within one tile of a functioning barbecue or fireplace, it can catch fire.
  • Electronics with very high wear can start a spontaneous fire when in use.
The Fire
  • Fire spreads according to the same rules as in the offline game.
  • If a fire is burning when a property is closed, it will still be burning when the property is brought back up.
Objects on Fire
  • When there is a fire object on the same tile as an object, it will take a while before it burns. When it does:
    • If an object has fire insurance, it is placed in the inventory of its owner.
    • If an object does not have fire insurance, it turns to ash.
    • If it only has 20% of its life left, it will burn anyway.
People on Fire
  • As in 1.0, people are burnable.
  • Players have the choice of either staying to help fight the fire or immediately leaving the lot via the phone booth.
  • There is no fire insurance for a person. If they burn, they die. See Death for more info.
  • A fireman involved in an "extinguish" operation will not burn.
Firemen
  • A fireman is someone who has high skill in both body and charisma.
  • A fireman has an accessory hose which allows them to extinguish a bit section of fire all at once.
  • Before extinguishing, the fireman spins into his or her fireman suit.
  • A fireman can extinguish a fire in faster than regular people.
Non-Firemen
  • Non-firemen can only extinguish one fire tile at a time, and it takes them much longer.
Fire Insurance
  • When a player buys a burnable object from the catalog, they are given a confirmation dialog asking, "Would you like to spend $x on fire insurance for this object? It will protect it from burning until it only has 20% of its life left."
  • Fire insurance is indicated in the object info panel w/ an icon, so you can see whether an object has insurance before you buy it from someone else.
