First FreeSO City Announced!
Source: http://freeso.org/introducing-sunrise-crater/
The first city that the official FreeSO server will feature has been revealed! It is an evolved version of Test Center named Sunrise Crater.

The landscape has been transformed to include more interesting features for communities to build themselves around. As player-created buildings populate these small town areas, they will define the character of the neighborhood.

The difference these new features make is stunning, and with the ability to see neighboring lots from your own, the sense of community and immersion is increased tenfold.

We are just as excited as you are to see these changes in person. Luckily there is just over one week left until the open beta launches on Friday, January 6th. Hope to see you there!

Property Upgrade Guide Updated

Now with More Floors!
One of the new features in FreeSO is the number of floors and lot sizes you can upgrade your property to. Previously you were limited to having two floors and a buildable area of 46x46 tiles. In FreeSO you are able to upgrade your property to five floors and a buildable area of 64x64 tiles.

The Property Upgrade Guide has been updated to include floors and the new lot sizes. We have also added information about the object limit since it is now tied directly to the size of your property and the number of roommates you have. Old players may remember the infamous "Property Object Limit Exceeded" message. Now you don't have to worry because you'll know exactly how many objects you can place.

Done Verifying.... FreeSO Beta Announced!
Source: http://freeso.org/freeso-open-beta-kicks-off-on-january-6th/
Well, who would have thought that eight years after The Sims Online had shut down I would be back here once again sharing news about our favorite game?

After three years and a tremendous effort put in by the development team (especially Rhys, who is the driving force behind the project), The Sims Online is reborn as FreeSO or "Free Simulator Online".

What is FreeSO exactly? Simply put, it is a reimplementation of The Sims Online game engine that reads the original game content files that are provided by you, the player. On its own, the FreeSO client does not display any copyrighted material, and is not distributed with it.

We are excited to share that the FreeSO Open Beta kicks off on Friday January 6, 2017. Once again, you will be able to experience almost all that The Sims Online has to offer, and more!

During the reimplementation, several new features and objects have been added to make the game even better than before. Some things you can look forward to include:
  • Larger Property Sizes - The maximum has increased from 46x46 tiles to 64x64 tiles.
  • More Floors - You can now upgrade your property to have up to 5 floors.
  • Roof Pitch - Now you can have a flat roof, or a variable pitch roof with the new pitch slider.
  • See Your Neighbors - Say goodbye to the grey void around your property. Neighboring homes are now visible, giving the game more of a community feel.
  • Smooth Zoom - No more jarring elevation changes. Smoothly zoom between the city, neighborhood, and property views.
  • Dynamic Roads - Roads will only appear on your property if they exist in map view, giving you more control over how your property looks.
  • New Terrain - The look of grass, rock, sand and snow have been improved. If your property borders a different terrain type, they will transition seamlessly.

Of course, with this being a beta, some things may not be perfect, and some features will be missing. Take a look at the Launch Frequently Asked Questions for more details about what you can expect.

There will be more information about the exact details of the launch (such as the time and what you need to download) closer to the launch date.

In the meantime, whether you are a returning player or new to The Sims Online, we suggest you check out our game guides. This wealth of information will help you learn all about the game so you can get off on the right foot once beta begins. We have started and will continue to update the guides to reflect differences between TSO and FreeSO.

As always, stay tuned to tsomania.net during this exciting time for all the latest news.
