EA Land & Test Center 3
There are two cities (servers) that you can create a Sim in. Both cities look identical in geography, but serve two different purposes. The first city is EA Land, also known as the production server, where all completed and active features of the game reside. Almost all players will use this city most often and create the majority of their avatars here. The second city is Test Center 3, which is a test server where game versions not quite ready for the production server are tested by the general public. Many players create Sims here to preview and/or attempt to break upcoming features. Those who create in this city should note that the server is subject to having its data wiped out or rolled back should a serious bug appear.
Within each city there are 15 areas where you can build your property. These areas are composed of the twelve original cities of The Sims Online and three of the unused cities. While the names of these buildable areas are not seen inside the game, many players still use them when referencing a particular area. Move your pointer over a buildable area on the map below to see the name.
Both cities have a daily maintenance window from 3:00AM to 4:00AM PST. During this time both cities will be offline and unavailable to play in. If you are in the game, you will see a warning message every 5 minutes starting 15 minutes before the maintenance begins.
One or both of the cities may be taken offline outside of the daily maintenance window for game updates or hot fixes which require immediate attention. Like the daily maintenance, you will see a warning message every 5 minutes starting 15 minutes before the city goes offline.
Advanced notice of game updates, fixes and outages are usually given on the developer blog, which can be seen on the right-hand site of this page. The typical day for game updates is Wednesday afternoons.
